You might not call The Otherside Cafe inexpensive, but it is for its location, and it's not outlandishly expensive either.
It has really good food and a great atmosphere. It is close to Berklee Performance Center and Newbury Street, and close enough to Symphony Hall and the Huntington Theatre. They are open until midnight every night, and until 1 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
The waiters are young and hip and polite, you know, cool polite. There are some nice tattoos and body piercings too. (We especially liked one waitress's music tattoo, a bass clef and treble clef somehow combined to make the shape of a heart. I wish I could remember how that worked.)
We ate outside, which was great, though the cafe is located just above the Mass Pike. Usually that would really bother me, being close to so many cars spewing exhaust, but we had a great time.
Our favorite dishes: Raw Food Chips & Dip - slices of beet and carrot with a dip of blended macadamia & cashew w/garlic, lemon and Bragg’s (raw & vegan) 9.00
(That Macadamia and Cashew dip was amazing!) Veggie Burrito - veggie chili, brown rice & cheddar wrapped in a tortilla w/salsa, guacamole and sour cream on the side 8.75 v (add tofu 1.00 or chicken 1.50. sub vegan cheese .50)
(My teenage daughter loves burritos and she was careful to say it was as good as mine.) The Greek (hot sandwhich)- spinach, feta, pesto, roasted red peppers, tomato, onion and black olives, pressed on ciabatta 9.75
(Can't-stop-eating-delicious. Next time my boyfriend and I will each get our own.)
